New Caledonian government grants SLN nickel export permits
The government of New Caledonia has issued authorisations for French nickel producer Société Le Nickel SLN to export 4 million tonnes/year of nickel ore over a ten-year period. The increase in exports will be immediate with a target of 1.5 million tonnes as of 2019, and 4mt from mid-2020, Kallanish learns from SLN's owner, the French miner Eramet.
The 4mt of nickel ore exported should enable SLN to reduce its cash-cost by $0.60/lb by 2021,…
