SMS bags Jindal Stainless blast furnace construction contract
SMS Group has bagged a contract to construct a new blast furnace at Jindal Stainless (JSL)’s Kalinganagar unit in India. This will be the first at JSL’s new stainless steel complex, with the firm’s production currently based on electric arc furnace technology.
According to SMS, the blast furnace will have 2 million tonnes/year of production capacity and will serve existing as well as future downstream steelmaking facilities, Kallanish notes.
