SMS upgrades Zenith Steel wire rod mill
China's Zenith Steel has commissioned the modernised wire rod mill at its Changzhou steel plant, using technology from SMS Group.
Zenith aims to widen its portfolio to include round bars and maximise the rolling speed for smaller-diameter products, Kallanish notes from SMS. Currently, the wire rod mill produces 780,000 tonnes/year of wire rod of 11.5-26.5mm diameter in commercial steel grades.
