South32 downgrades Illawarra full-year metallurgical coal guidance
Australian miner South32 says subsidiary Illawara Metallurgical Coal’s Aspin mine has encountered challenging strata conditions in the quarter, resulting in lower productivity and a 7% reduction in FY23 production guidance.
Illawarra Metallurgical Coal saleable production decreased by 3% to 4.8 million tonnes in the nine months ended March 2023, with production decreasing by 17% in the March 2023 quarter, Kallanish notes.
