SSAB eyes faster green transition, power supply investment
SSAB says it wants to largely eliminate carbon dioxide emissions by around 2030, 15 years earlier than initially planned. However, the necessary infrastructure, access to fossil-free electricity in particular, must be in place in time.
The Swedish steelmaker will replace its existing blast furnace-oxygen converter steelmaking system with new electric arc furnace-based mini-mill technology, resulting in a broader product programme and improved cost position.
