Steel Climate Council publishes global emissions standards
The Global Steel Climate Council (GSCC) has published a steel climate standard touted as a "fair and unbiased" method for steel producers to measure and report their greenhouse gas emissions.
The council argues that other standards have been based on sliding scale in adjustment to steel producers' ferrous scrap consumption. That methodology could result in higher-emission steel products being mislabeled as "green" steel.
