Steel firms as outlook brightens in China
Chinese steel prices finished the week on a high despite high volatility. Traders are confused by the strength of prices but have been modestly building stocks, Kallanish notes.
20mm HRB400 rebar was selling in Shanghai at around CNY 2,340-2,400/tonne ($353-362/t), CNY 220/t higher than two weeks ago. 5.5x1,500mm Q235B hot rolled coil meanwhile traded at around CNY 2,660-2,720/t, up CNY 125/t from two weeks previously.
