Strong March quarter caps Indian steelmakers' Covid-19 comeback
Indian steelmakers brushed off the impact of the Covid-19 lockdown last spring to end the fiscal year through March 2021 (FY21) very strongly, Kallanish notes.
Tata Steel India reported deliveries of 4.67 million tonnes and crude steel output of 4.75mt in the fourth fiscal quarter through March (FQ4), up 16% and 0.4% on-year respectively. The output was a quarterly record. Domestic deliveries rose 22% to 4.17mt, with exports accounting for 11% of sales.
