Taiwan scrap prices begin to fall

The Taiwanese scrap market has turned down this week, the first decline since the new year. Local mills cut their rebar prices at the same time, Kallanish notes. Electric arc furnace mill Feng Hsin Iron & Steel has cut its rebar offers by TWD 400/tonne ($14.46/t) but kept scrap purchasing prices unchanged. Its purchase price for HMS1 is TWD 11,700/t ($421/t) and the list price for #5 (5/8 inches or 15.875mm nominal diameter base) …
