TMK launches radio frequency identification drill pipe
Russian pipemaker TMK has started production of drill pipe with radio frequency identification (RFID).
Thanks to pipe inspection using RFID technology, users can set up automatic accounting of product life, and record flaw detection as well as the real history of the operation of each drill pipe. This makes it possible to predict pipe failure with great accuracy and to carry out repairs in advance, the enterprise claims.
