TT Iron Steel acquires idled ArcelorMittal mill
TT Iron Steel Company (TTIS), a Trinidad and Tobago-based steel producer, has acquired ArcelorMittal's idled Point Lisas steel mill located in Couva, Trinidad, with plans to restart operations at the facility within two years. Kallanish understands that TTIS plans to refurbish the direct-reduced iron plant, which includes electric arc furnace technology for steelmaking, and eventually plans to convert the facility to green hydrogen.
