Turkey's 2018 scrap imports fall despite Russia-origin growth

Turkish scrap imports slumped -20% on-year in December 2018 to 1.63 million tonnes, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish. Their average value was $336/tonne versus $319/t in December 2017. Over 99% of the December imports were obsolete scrap, of which the US supplied 290,051t and Russia provided 218,219t.
