Turkish consumption growth turns negative
Turkish finished steel consumption fell -0.2% on-year in January-August to 23.1 million tonnes. Long steel use dropped -8.1% to 10.9mt and flats use increased 9% to 12.2mt, according to the Turkish Steel Producers’ Association (TCUD).
Eight-month finished steel production rose 4.7% to 26.7mt thanks to a 23.1% surge in flats output to 10.3mt and despite a -4.3% decline in longs output to 16.4mt.
