Turkey’s Erdemir sinks to first-half loss
Erdemir reported a net loss of $181 million in the first half of 2023 versus a year-earlier profit of $860m, while crude steel production amounted to 3.2 million tonnes.
Revenue dropped 33% to $2.896 billion.
While the Ereğli plant experienced 4% steel output growth, reaching 1.55mt, the İskenderun plant witnessed a notable decrease of 39% to 1.6mt amid the production halt following February’s earthquakes, Kallanish notes.
