Turkish scrap imports surge in February
Turkish scrap imports soared in February as intake from all main destinations grew, led by a surge in supplies from the US, Kallanish notes from the latest Turkish Statistical institute (TUIK) data.
February's imports went up 87% on-year and 10% on-month to 1.85 million tonnes. The total average value/tonne of these imports increased to $339/t from $274/t a year ago. The scrap-rebar value spread widened to $215/t from $145/t a year earlier.
