Turkish steelmakers rail against rebar duty cut
The rebar import duty reduction, planned by Turkey's economy ministry to solve the domestic rebar shortage problem, will harm local producers, according to Fuat Tosyali, chairman of the Turkish Steel Producer's Association (TCUD).
Instead, a removal of the value added tax (VAT) on domestic rebar prices would be the best intervention to end this dispute, Tosyali says in a comment to local daily Dunya, seen by Kallanish.
