Ukraine’s August pig iron production falls, steel increases

Ukrainian steel companies increased production on-year in August despite the Russia-Ukraine war, unfavourable global market conditions and logistical problems, according to national steel association Ukrmetallurgprom. However, most indicators fell versus July. Last month’s crude steel output amounted to 602,000 tonnes, up by 64.5% on-year and 0.2% compared to July, Kallanish notes.
