Universal Stainless increases nickel surcharge
With a tightening nickel market and skyrocketing prices, US specialty steelmaker Universal Stainless & Alloy Products will be increasing the nickel premium used in its raw materials surcharge.
The company is raising its nickel premium calculation to $1.70/pound for AOD grades and $2.70/lb for VIM grades. These are up from $0.38/lb previously, Kallanish understands.
