Universal, USW extend contract during negotiations
US specialty steel producers Universal Stainless & Alloy Products has inked a temporary contract extension with its United Steelworkers (USW) labour force, Kallanish learns from a company statement.
The agreement with local 9531 extends the terms of the previous labour agreement, which technically expired 31 August, while a new agreement is reached. It carries a 72-hour termination notice that can be activated by either party.
