US drops 8 rigs, Canada adds 2

The number of active oil and gas rigs in the US decreased by eight for the week ended 3 May whilst Canada added two rigs, Kallanish learns from oil services company Baker Hughes.  The US rig count totals 605, a decrease of 143 from the equivalent week in 2023. Of the total, 499 are oil rigs, 102 are gas rigs, and four are categorised as miscellaneous. Alaska and Texas each dropped five rigs and Utah lost one.
