US flat steel imports spike in March
US imports of flat steel jumped by 22.5% month-on-month in March, Kallanish learns from the US Steel Import Monitor and Assessment (SIMA).
Preliminary census data shows an increase to 950,426 tonnes of flat steel to the US in March, from February's total imports of 775,827t and January's 900,994t. The March figure, therefore, represents the largest monthly amount of flat steel imports of 2024.
