US January scrap trading begins strongly

Scrap trading began strongly in the US on 5 January with Detroit mills’ bids for prime grades up $60/gross ton and cut grades and shredded up $30/gt for January deliveries versus last month.
While prime grades were traded at $50-60/gt higher than December deliveries, domestic suppliers also asked for large increases for obsolete grades, starting from $40/gt.
