US rigs increase by 6, Canada up 4
Both the US and Canadian rig counts posted gains in the abbreviated week ended 24 November, Kallanish learns from energy services company Baker Hughes.
Baker Hughes reported its updated numbers on Wednesday instead of Friday due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
Nevertheless, the US added six net rigs for a total of 569, up 249 from last year’s equivalent count.
All six new rigs were geared for oil production.
