US sheet market absorbs big capacity news

US sheet pricing momentum stuttered last week as news of two giant domestic capacity additions hit the market.  Kallanish adjusted its hot-rolled price Monday to $1,940-1,960/short ton and kept cold-rolled at $2,150-2,200/st, ex-works, domestic mill.  Both US Steel and Nucor plan to bring 3 million st online by 2024. A location for the US Steel mill has not yet been decided, and Nucor plans to site its mill in either Ohio, Pennsylvania, or West Virginia…
