US Steel idles furnace at Granite City
US Steel is temporarily idling blast furnace “B” at Granite City Works in Illinois, attributing the decision at least in part to the United Auto Workers strike.
The company says the move is part of a risk mitigation plan to ensure melt capacity is balanced with its order book.
