US Steel temporarily idles Granite City furnace
Blast furnace ‘B’ begins idling this week at US Steel’s Granite City, Illinois, facility, Kallanish reports.
US Steel announced its plan to temporarily idle the furnace in its Q3 2023 guidance (see Kallanish 20 September). The company cited uncertainty around the United Auto Workers strike as one of its considerations for the decision.
