Uzbek Metallurgical Plant delays HR strip mill launch
Uzbek Metallurgical Plant (UMK) has rescheduled the start-up of its electric arc furnace-based strip producing facility in Bekabad, Uzbekistan, targeting the second half of 2024. This update comes as the project is currently in the erection stage, Kallanish notes.
Initially, UMK had engaged Italian equipment supplier Danieli in 2019 with the plan to commission the facility before 2022 (see Kallanish passim).
