Vedanta steel output surges, iron ore production plunges
Vedanta group-owned ESL Steel’s saleable finished steel output surged 11% on-year to 325,000 tonnes in the second quarter of the fiscal year ending 31 March 2023 (FQ2). This also surged 21% on-quarter against 269,000t produced in FQ1, Kallanish notes.
ESL produced 235,000t of billet, 118,000t TMT bar, 103,000t of wire rod, 47,000t of pig iron and 48,000t of ductile iron pipe in FQ2.
