Western Australian iron ore exports rush higher

In the week to 4 September, iron ore exports from the four largest miners in the Pilbara region of Western Australia (WA) saw a large rebound. This was thanks to Rio Tinto’s efforts to hit the bottom of its 2021 shipment guidance and BHP’s work-arounds at its Port Hedland export facilities. The four miners – Rio Tinto, BHP, FMG and Roy Hill – shipped 18.57 million deadweight tonnes of iron ore last week, up from 16.47m dwt in the prior week…
