Wugang boosts efficiency of compact strip plant
Wuhan Iron & Steel (Wugang) broke the speed record at its compact strip plant (CSP) on 16 September, establishing a base to increase production in 2020, Kallanish notes.
The steelmaker has reached the maximum speed of 17.2 metre/second for casting and rolling 1.2mm thin hot rolled coils. This takes its effective capacity to 2.6 million tonnes/year from the original 2.5m t/y for the CSP.
