US imports rise 35% on-year
US steel imports through the first nine months of the year were up 35% on-year, with finished steel import market share estimated to be 21%, Kallanish learns from data supplied by the American Iron and Steel Institute.
AISI says a total of 3.237 million short tons of steel were imported during the month of September, including 2.469m st of finished steel, based on preliminary September data. This was 16.7% and 17.1% higher than August imports.
