Kallanish South East Asia Steel Markets Report - Week 46 (Nov. 15, 2021)

Read the Kallanish South East Asia Report - Week 46, published 15th November 2021. This is a weekly subscription report analysing production, flats, longs, semis, and raw materials for the region.

Flats: The Vietnamese HRC market was sluggish during the past week. Vietnam’s Formosa Ha Tinh has cut its domestic hot rolled coil prices for January/February shipments.

Longs: The long products import market direction in Southeast Asia is unclear after a strong but short-lived rebound in Chinese steel futures and physical markets towards the end of last week.

Semis: Volatility in Chinese steel futures has also spread to Southeast Asian billet import markets. Some buying took place earlier last week when prices touched recent lows.

Raw Materials: Taiwan's scrap prices have fallen for two consecutive weeks after hitting new highs in late October. Local steelmaker sales are struggling, leading to a further decline in scrap demand.
