Global crude steel production rose 3.7% on-year in February to 148.84 million tonnes; however, Chinese output remained unconfirmed, according to the information provided by worldsteel.

Chinese steel output is estimated to have grown 3.5% in February to 81.2mt. Worldsteel data for January has been revised to reflect output estimated at 86.8mt, an increase from roughly 77.24mt a month earlier, an almost 10mt difference.

Indian output grew 11.4% on-year in February to 11.8mt, while Japanese output was up 1% to 6.99mt. However, both decreased from January. South Korean production fell 1.5% on-year to 5.13mt.

EU27 output in February was down 3.3% on-year to 10.55mt, despite a 4.4% growth in Germany to 3.12mt. After growing on-year in January, Italian, Spanish and French output declined on-year in February by 3.9%, 4.9% and 10.2%, respectively, to 1.82mt, 946,000t and 802,000t.
