Arizona manganese project qualifies as first FAST-41 federal mining project
A proposed manganese-zinc-lead-silver mine in southern Arizona, operated by South32, is the first US mine project to qualify for the federal FAST-41 permitting review process, Kallanish reports.
The $1.7 billion Hermosa project featuring an underground mine and processing plant is located near Patagonia, Arizona. It will produce two federally designated critical metals: manganese and zinc, the Australia-based company says.
