BMW Group reinforces electrification, sustainability strategy to investors
BMW Group told investors on Thursday its sixth generation battery packs will be 50% cheaper and 60% less carbon intensive thanks to its decision to use cylindrical cells, Kallanish reports.
The manufacturer said the strategic move to use the new format reflects advantages in integration, energy, safety, and sustainability. It estimates the cells will cut charging time from 10-80% by 30%, while increasing driving range by the same amount.
