COPPER: Vale posts weak first-quarter results
Brazil’s Vale saw its copper production fall both quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year in the first three-month period in 2022, Kallanish learns from the miner’s latest quarterly report.
The decrease was mainly caused by lower Sossego production, which operated only 24 days during the quarter, due to scheduled SAG mill maintenance. Vale extended the deadline of works until mid-May. These were to be completed in Q1, as previously announced.
