EU approves Slovakia’s subsidies for Volvo Cars EV plant
Slovakia’s plan to subsidise a Volvo Cars electric car production plant in the country has been approved by the European Commission, Kallanish learns.
The EC cleared the €267 million ($287m) investment aid in the project in Valaliky, near Košice in eastern Slovakia. Officials in Brussels agreed the state aid is “necessary and appropriate,” and will trigger €1.2 billion in investment by Volvo Cars.
