Northvolt plans wood-based battery development with Stora Enso
Swedish battery manufacturer Northvolt and Finnish pulp and paper producer Stora Enso want to jointly develop a wood-based battery, using lignin to produce a sustainable anode.
Under a Joint Development Agreement announced on 22 July, Stora Enso will provide its lignin-based anode material Lignode so that Northvolt can design the cell, develop the production process and scale-up the technology, Kallanish learns.
