Northvolt produces first battery cell at Swedish gigafactory
Swedish battery start-up Northvolt has started cell production at its flagship Northvolt Ett gigafactory, in Skellefteå, Sweden, Kallanish reports.
The first lithium-ion battery cell to roll off the production lines on 28 December was in a prismatic cell format. Northvolt will carry on with commissioning and upscaling of the 60-gigawatt-hour factory throughout 2022. Then, first commercial customers deliveries will be made in varying formats.
