Northvolt secures $986m German aid for EV battery plant
Swedish battery manufacturer Northvolt has secured EU approval for a €902 million ($986m) German state aid to build an EV battery plant in Germany, Kallanish learns.
The aid, which includes a €700m direct grant and a €202m guarantee, will support Northvolt in constructing a 60-gigawatt-hour plant for advanced and high-efficiency EV batteries. Located in Heide, the plant is estimated to have the capacity to support 800,000 to 1 million EVs/year.
