Panasonic plans 2170 battery, production upgrades

Japanese electronics giant Panasonic plans to bring new-and-improved EV battery cells to the market by 2025, according to chief technology officer Shoichiro Watanabe. Watanabe made the comments in an interview with Bloomberg, saying Panasonic could begin producing an upgraded version of its 2170 battery cells as early as this year.
