Study flags hydrogen storage concerns at Scottish site
A study has raised concerns about the suitability of a decommissioned gas field in Scotland for potentially storing hydrogen, Kallanish learns.
Led by professor John Underhill at the University of Aberdeen and Malcolm Butler at the UK Onshore Geophysical Library (UKOGL), the study found that the Cousland gas field in Midlothian fails the safety criteria for subsurface hydrogen storage and has recommended it shouldn’t be used.
