Vale, General Motors sign term sheet for nickel sulphate
US auto giant General Motors says it has signed a term sheet to purchase nickel from Brazil-based Vale SA for electric vehicle batteries, Kallanish reports.
The long-term agreement was inked with subsidiary Vale Canada to buy battery-grade nickel sulphate, equal to 25,000 tonnes/year of contained nickel, from the miner’s proposed plant in Quebec. That supply would be sufficient to build about 350,000 EVs per year.
