Rouble devaluation offsets Russian rod export price drop
Russian wire rod export prices have decreased amid lower bids from buyers due to faltering market sentiment. But the impact on Russian exporters has been offset by the rouble devaluating against the dollar, market participants inform Kallanish.
Novostal-M is offering wire rod at $650-670/tonne fob Novorossiysk for shipment at the end of May or early June.
However, bids from buyers are coming in at least $20/t lower than asking prices.
