ASEAN billet buyers resist higher prices
Billet offers have risen over the past week in ASEAN, Kallanish notes. In addition to the ascent in steel and raw materials in China, export markets in the Middle East are enabling ASEAN mills to raise billet export prices. Offers in Manila for 5sp 130/150mm square blast furnace open-origin billet from Asean/China for June/July shipment continue to increase and are now at $520-530/tonne cfr compared to $512-515/t cfr Manila on 12 April.
