Project awards, price expectations encourage Saudi rebar stocking
Saudi Arabian traders are stocking rebar in anticipation of price increases and with the aim of responding to enquiries from large projects.
Mills are invoicing 12-40mm diameter rebar at SAR 2,700-2,800/tonne ($720-746) delivered within the country. There is a billet shortage and, due to high price tags of billet, some re-rollers are working at utilisation rates of lower than 50%, Kallanish notes.
