Chinese steel futures dive as production restrictions removed
Chinese steel futures prices dropped steeply on Thursday. The removal of steel production restrictions in Hebei stimulated the slump (see separate article), Kallanish notes.
The May rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) closed down at CNY 3,026/tonne ($435.40/t), a CNY 132/t fall, while the May hot rolled coil contract fell CNY 163/t to CNY 3,415/t.
