Construction backlog in US holds flat through May
The Associated Builders and Contractors' (ABC) US non-residential construction backlog indicator remains unchanged in May at a volume of 8.9 months, which is marginally below May 2022's backlog volume reading of 9 months. Kallanish gathers from the ABC's data that a monthly decline in heavy industrial projects (down 1.2 months) was offset by an increase in infrastructure construction (up 1.3 months).
