Eastern Steel starts blast furnace construction in Malaysia
Malaysia's Eastern Steel started the construction of one 1,380 cubic-metre blast furnace on 8 March.
The steelmaker aims to operate it at its steel plant in Kemaman, Terengganu, by the third quarter of 2023, Kallanish notes. This will help Eastern Steel reach an iron production capacity of 2.7 million tonnes/year, adding into the capacity from the current 600 cum blast furnace.
