Explosion closes Grosvenor mine

Anglo American has been forced to suspend operations at its Grosvenor coking coal mine following an explosion on Wednesday afternoon. Anglo last said it aimed to ship 19-21 million tonnes of coking coal in 2020 from its total operations, Kallanish notes. Five people were injured in the explosion. The 5 million tonnes/year mine in Queensland’s Bowen Basin is next to the 5m t/y Moranbah North mine which halted operations in June last year due to a roof collaps…
